Before opening an old installer
- Find the provenance: developer archive, trusted preservation project or documented physical media.
- Record a cryptographic hash and scan the file with current security tools.
- Use an emulator or isolated device with no personal accounts or network access.
- Back up the device before installing system utilities or display hacks.
What this archive does not host
